Company Profile

John Pietro founded Mid-State in 1952. John, a WWII veteran at the age of 19, returned to his home in Worcester, MA. after the war and attended Worcester Academy as a senior on the GI Bill in the Fall of 1947. He then went onto Brown University where he achieved Honorable Mention All-American honors in football while maintaining an excellent academic record. After graduation in 1952, John went onto a two year stint with the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League and during the off season, began selling insurance. He owned Mid-State until 1992.

In July of 1992 Paul and James Pietro purchased the Agency from their father. After graduating from St. Lawrence University in 1979, Paul went to work creating the Life, Health and Financial Services arm of the organization. Today, Paul serves as Chairman of the corporation as well as being a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and a Chartered Financial Planner (ChFP) offering group and individual health, life, 401(k), mutual fund and estate planning services. Mid-State has experienced tremendous growth in these lines of business.

James Pietro graduated from Colby College in 1986 and shortly there after went to work producing Commercial Lines business for the Agency. He went on to earn the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation while developing a sizable book of business. His specialty areas are auto dealers and medium sized commercial risks. Jim, currently Mid-State’s President, gravitated toward the administration side of the organization where he now charts the course for the future of the Agency.

At Mid-State we believe in respect for the individual and the power of the whole. We believe the individual and department have distinct responsibilities which must be effectively completed in order to serve the greater needs of our clients and the Agency. Through our Mission, we are guided in all our actions and at Mid-State, we provide individual solutions and peace of mind.
