One of the major concerns facing your employees is What will happen if I am not able to work? Who will pay the bills and provide for my family? Offering disability insurance is one way of providing peace of mind for your employees. Short- and long-term disability programs are available.

Short-Term Disability

  • Waiting periods can range from one to 30 days.
  • Coverage is 60 to 70 percent of your weekly earnings.
  • Benefits are typically paid for 13 weeks but may continue up to two years.

Long-Term Disability

  • The waiting period generally coordinates with short-term disability.
  • Coverage is 60 to 70 percent of your weekly earnings.
  • Benefits are paid up to age 65 or according to the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) guidelines for those disabled after age 60.
